What Makes A Story?

2024  Editorial & Poster Design

What Makes A Story? combines the writings and Ted Talks by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Gretchen McCulloch, Aditya Mukerjee, Robert Waldinger, and Zoë Ryan, all of which discuss the connections between culture, language, coding, and their place in the world of design. Photographs, collages, pull quotes, and personal annotations were included to further immerse the reader in the vast amount of information shared in this handbound book.

To accompany the book, risograph printed posters provide information for the What Makes a Story? reading festival, as well as function as book jackets.

The Danger of a Single Story by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was a booklet typeset and designed with the purpose of taking Adichie’s Ted Talk and converting it into a readable piece. This booklet served as the starting point for what became What Makes a Story?
